social
media tips + understanding your dream customer

.

The top three things to know:

  • Be very focused on creating the same online presence as someone would have with you in real life. This is what truly distinguishes an influencer from an amateur. Be YOU!!!!

  • Growing an online audience is going to take 10x longer than you think it’s going to take. This is the long game my friends!

  • It doesn’t matter how big your audience is. It matters how well you serve + communicate with your dream customer. Create value for her/him, not for everyone! (scroll down to ‘knowing your muse’)

Remember, people buy from those they know, like + trust … so your ability to grow online is linked to how well you can help people understand if they like + trust you :)

Social Media Engagement Checklist:

Do these daily to grow your audience (keep scrolling down to see a list of post examples)

  1. What is your fave medium to use to connect with your audience? Using your voice (podcast), writing (blog/newsletters), video (youtube, facebook/instagram LIVE) or visuals (instagram, pinterest). Post or create content for this platform and give 3x as much value as you do a sales or promo

  2. Leave comments on at least 3 other posts

  3. Like at least 3 posts from those you follow

  4. Respond to all comments on your post

  5. Respond to all direct messages (on Facebook and Instagram)

Run your Social ... don’t let it run you:

  1. Only check email and notifications 2x a day. Have strict boundaries here and honour them. You will teach others through how quickly you respond.

  2. Purge your inbox: Use the ‘snooze’ button on gmail to have emails come back to your box at a later designated ‘batch day' or when the email needs action/response. Also use unroll.me to batch unsubscribe from subscriptions that don’t serve you anymore.

  3. Purge your notifications: Control what you see when you scroll by creating lists on Facebook . Also reduce the amount of people you are following on Instagram. ie) I only follow 100 people and if I add a new person to follow, I delete a previous one. I do the same thing in my closet - if I buy something, I hang it and donate something else on a hanger ;)

  4. Use a social media scheduler such as Hootsuite or Meet Edgar. This way you can schedule all the communications + value out to your various platforms. Click Here to see a full list of my productivity tools.
