About 12 years ago, I launched my first digital creation into the world called The Healthy Sustainable Kitchen … perhaps you remember it as one of the OGs!
I was about to have my second daughter and was finding my groove running a kitchen and home for the first time after spending over a decade in corporate mgmt.
If you’re new to my work, I enjoy finding the better way to do things to live a life in full alignment with my values. And when I integrate methods that do this for me … I share it.
I believe our kitchens hold the keys to health + happiness in our home and it’s worth it to spend some time looking at what’s working and what’s not working, to find a better flow. That is what the Healthy Kitchen Blueprint will guide you through. There is no shortage of recipe cookbooks out there … and that’s not what this is. This blueprint will help you bring it all in and establish systems that will increase the peace + health flowing through.
Most of my best childhood memories were created around the dining table. I think it’s because of the way most of our senses are activated in those moments … the smell of dinner cooking, perhaps music playing in the background, holding hands to say grace, laughing at stories from the day together, Gramma over with her ½ apron and the Better Homes Cookbook covered in flour.
And as ‘Gen X’, I’ve grown up with one foot in both worlds. The world of home cooked meals, slower speeds and no WIFI.
And the world where opportunities are endless for women, where food can be ordered from the tap of a screen and where the WIFI never runs dry.
If this context helps … I purchased my first flip phone when I was 20.
During that time of my life, I ran one of the busiest Starbucks locations in Canada and while the flip phone had its limitations …
There are several integrations within this blueprint that came from that decade of my life working in the service industry. Things like: prime real estate of placing things where you’re working, maximizing your busy times + slow times, FIFO, bulk prepping and never leaving one area to enter another area empty handed.
For what it’s worth … I loved my decade of working + managing stores and eventually a district of stores with Starbucks.
But I love running our kitchen/home even more because of what I take you through in this blueprint.
As our world continues to move at an accelerated pace towards the artifical, I’m know I’m not alone in wanting to plant at least one foot more firmly in the other world.
Where less is more, where missing out feels expansive, where fancy dishes are for more than just a holiday, where a home smells more like onions + garlic and where being around the table together is the standard.
I’m not suggesting that the answer is to spend the day wearing an apron. But I am proposing we have some tricks up our sleeve. Methods for having a foot in each world. Where we can nurture those we love and the dreams we have in our hearts. Which looks a lot to me like a slow cooker + a laptop.
I believe that now more than ever, we must build the new world within the walls of our home.
And I loved creating this blueprint for you … it’s an ode to the last 10 years navigating growth + motherhood, most often in my kitchen.
